Tips to Protect the Colors of Outdoor Upholstery

If you are having a decorated roof top or terrace added to your house, you must have some furniture to fit those places, right? A well furnished terrace looks nice and this is a nice place to spend your evening out there. Mostly this is an open place. An open place like this will certainly have furniture covered with good upholstery to protect them from rain, dust and sunlight. Therefore there is always a need of good outdoor upholstery for that precious furniture.

Outdoor upholstery in Sydney is mostly exposed to weather and have to sustain the effect of sunlight. Sunlight is the major factor that makes the upholstery loses its color and shine. Here I will discuss on some tips to keep the colors of the fabrics intact.

Try to be selective while buying covers for your furniture. Color holding feature depends on the quality of the fabric. If you buy upholstery made up of cottons and wool, they will have tendency to lose its color faster. You can buy upholstery made up of nylon-polyester or acrylic; they have better color retention capacity under extreme weather.

Buy relatively light color upholstery than the conventional dark color ones. It has been observed that dark color upholstery tends to fade up faster than the light color ones. If you are addicted to use darker shades to protect the color, place the furniture under shaded areas on the terrace, so that it does not come under direct sunlight. You can use blinds, umbrella to make some shades on the open surface.

Major reason of losing color from the upholstery is the sunlight. If there is lack of shades in your roof-top, try to arrange the furniture in such a way that light color furniture gets the most of the light than the darker ones.

There is some sun protecting solution available for upholstery. Apply them on the fabric to protect them from any sort of tanning and losing the color.
